August 2020 - Beyond Meat, REALLY?

 Beyond Meat REALLY

The picture above is my version of a "Veggie Burger".
They freeze great.
They are great to take to get-togethers.
We eat them as a side to salad,
or open-faced on vegan sourdough bread
with mustard, relish, a fresh slice of tomato & lettuce.
YUMMMM!

There is so much info out there
and much of it is misleading in my opinion.

Has anyone looked at the ingredients list
for the "Beyond Meat Burger"?

Or have you checked out the ingredients
in your favorite "Almond Milk"?

Seems like the food manufacturers are seeing the trend
moving to a more vegan, plant-based or vegetarian diet.
Thus they are endeavoring to cash in on it.

At first glance you may be excited by that.

But if you take the time to look at the ingredients of the
fake foods they are creating,
you will see that
they will NOT be of benefit to your Earth-suit.

Especially if your aim is to
nourish your body with quality food
that will provide you
with the health and longevity you desire.

I encourage you to invest in yourself.
Take the time to make your own "healthy fast food"
from whole plant food ingredients.
No fillers, chemical-binders, or preservatives.

Everything is energy!
When you take the time to prepare
quality whole food for yourself, family or friends
it can be felt, tasted and truly enjoyed!

Why not make eating a quality experience
rather than something we have to do to keep going?

Below are my Veggie Burger and Almond Milk Recipes.

Cindy’s Veggie Burgers

~ You will need ¾ cup of cooked Quinoa

~ Make Flax Eggs by grinding 2 Tablespoons of Flax Seeds then place them in your large mixing bowl with 6 Tablespoons of Water.
Stir and let the mixture get thick. I tilt the bowl to keep it together.

~ In your Food Processor add 1 cup chopped or sliced Almonds.
Pulse into a fine texture.
Add 2 cups Cremini or chopped Portobello Mushrooms
Now add in the ¾ cup of cooked Quinoa
½ cup Onion
Process until it comes together and has the texture of ground meat.
Scoop this mixture into the large bowl with the Flax Egg.

~ Add the following ingredients to your bowl
and MIX everything together.

1 cup Rolled Oats
1/4 cup Water
2 Celery stalks, finely chopped
1 Carrot, grated
1 Tablespoon Bragg's (or soy sauce)
1 Tablespoon vegan Worcestershire Sauce
2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
½ teaspoon EACH Rosemary, Sage, Thyme
¼ teaspoon EACH Cayenne Pepper, Black Pepper
¼ teaspoon Pink Himalayan salt

~ Once everything is thoroughly mixed,
place parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
I use the ring from a quart jar as my patty mold.
Place the ring on the parchment paper,
fill with the Veggie Burger mixture.
Make sure to press the mixture down enough to fill the ring completely. Gently lift the ring and repeat the process.

Makes 11-12 patties.

Cook in a non-stick fry pan on medium to low heat
to allow them to cook through.
Flip over once.
Watch them carefully and reduce the heat
to make sure they cook on the inside
before the outside gets too brown.

Serve with salad or
on bread/bun with mustard, relish, tomato and lettuce.

To freeze uncooked patties,
just place the cookie sheet with the raw patties in the freezer.
Once frozen, place them into a freezer bag.
They will keep for a month or so.
I generally cut the parchment so I can use it
to keep the patties divided for easy removal later.
ENJOY!

Easy Almond Milk

Takes only 10 minutes!

Place in your Vita Mix Blender

3 cups Water
1 cup Raw Almonds
2 pit-less Dates (optional)
or
1/4 teaspoon Green Stevia

Blend until smooth, about 1 minute.
You may use the mixture as is
with all of its wonderful fiber in cereals etc.
OR
you can pour the mixture into a nut-milk bag
and squeeze out the liquid
and save the fiber for cooking or baking.

Makes 4 servings.
Enjoy!
