November 2024 – A Slick topic to consider
Hello Healthy, Happy People!
Looks like we are just a few days away
from setting the clocks back one hour.
That means the body will be looking to
rest longer and invest more time in rejuvenation.
We encourage you to be nice to yourself.
Take some extra time to linger just a bit longer
as you enjoy your hot drink in the morning.
Indulge in staring out the window
as you watch the leaves blow, the birds soar
and the clouds create spectacular scenes for you to enjoy.
A Slick topic to consider
I read an interesting article the other day
by Dr. Simon Goddek (drgoddek.com)
He was speaking about
the hidden dangers
of Vegetable Seed Oils.
I had never really considered
that there was much of a difference
between seed oils and fruit oils.
Particularly when it comes to
how they are processed.
My bad.
In a recent venture to
“up our game”
in the healthy living department
I was on the look out for how to improve
our already healthy diet
and maybe shed a few pounds.
Dr. Goddek’s insights were part of the ticket.
The other part was leading me to investigate
once again,
the Eat Right for Your Blood Type.
Back to the vegetable and fruit oils.
Apparently the fruit oils such as
Coconut, Avocado or Olive Oil
are handled in a much healthier way.
They can be extracted through pressing.
The Seed oils such as
Canola, Cottonseed, Corn, Grapeseed,
Rice Bran, Sunflower, Safflower and Soy
undergo high heat and chemical solvent extraction which leads to oxidation
and the formation of trans fats.
Dr. Goddek’s article goes on to mention
that the vegetable seed oils
are high in Omega-6 fatty acids
which appear to be a precursor
to inflammation in the body.
He says that without the correct balance
of Omega-3’s to balance things out,
the Omega-6 can contribute to
chronic inflammation
and or autoimmune issues.
So since I was looking into
refining the quality
of our food consumption once again
the article was timely.
We had been enjoying our organic,
cold-pressed coconut oil for some time now.
The Olive oil and Avocado oil had been pushed to the back of the cupboard.
You know how that goes, right?
The seed oils were already non-existent in our pantry.
I guess I already had some awareness
about those products.
BUT, when I checked out the fruit oils
that were good for our blood type,
we were making a vast mistake
using the Coconut oil on a daily basis.
I also liked that the Coconut oil
was a great indicator as to
the temperature of the house!
Meaning, if the Coconut oil is solid
then the house is too cold!
FYI it seems to me that at
26 degrees Celsius (79 F) the coconut oil is liquid.
Phil and I both prefer the house
to be 26-29 degrees Celsius
(79-84 F)
all year round!!
No wonder we like the tropics!
