January 2019 – Fruit Eaters Beware
“The most wasted of all days is that on which one has not laughed.”
Nicolas Chamfort 1741-1794, Writer
Though we enter a new year, it humbles me to think that each day we wake up is like hitting the reset button on our life.
Phil and I wish for you what we wish for ourselves… a life filled with health, happiness and as much laughter as you can stand!
Fruit Eaters Beware!
As we head into a new year full of promise and promises to ourselves, I urge you to consider quality food as one of the best gifts you can give yourself in 2019 and beyond.
That can be a daunting task, but without good health is there quality of life for you?
Quality Fuel In = Quality Of Your Physical Life Potential
The cells of your body can only work with that which you put in your mouth each day.
One of the many reasons it feels like a chore is because even if you do your best to buy fresh produce, all you can base your choices on is what the label says and hopefully it is true and/or correct!
As the general public we really have no idea what happens to produce once it leaves the commercial farm/growing facility and gets packaged, scanned, irradiated or run through hot water baths, or even sits in fumigated trucks or warehouses. That is just to mention a few details most folks don’t consider.
Avoiding packaged, processed “food” ladened with cheap fillers, fake flavors and clever packaging is one thing. Once you avoid those nutritional mine-fields, I ask you to be on your toes when navigating the fresh produce section as well.
Here in Canada, we depend on produce grown thousands of miles and even continents away!
We do the best we can, buy organic when possible. It is no wonder why we love to travel to tropical places and eat fresh pineapple, bananas, avocados, mango, oranges etc. in their season right where they grow!
FYI ~ If you have noticed mango, or avocado like in the picture below, where the flesh around the seed/pit is darkened. Chances are the fruit has been heated in a hot water bath or irradiated or by some other form that has killed the life in the seed/pit and now the fruit rots from the inside out rather than from the outside in.
